The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program

The province of Manitoba has welcomed almost 130,000 new immigrants over the past 10 years. The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) is based on two streams: skilled worker and business. The MPNP skilled worker stream is based on the needs of Manitoba employers. They choose well-trained and experienced workers who demonstrate the skill-level needed by the local market.

These skilled workers are then nominated for Canadian permanent resident visas to enable them to live and work in Manitoba. Manitoba boasts a low unemployment rate, great compensation, terrific working conditions, and excellent benefits. Manitoba also has a low cost of living and excellent healthcare services and education. The MPNP for Skilled Workers selects applicants with a solid connection to Manitoba, and the skills, education, work experience and language capability to achieve economic success and integration in Manitoba’s communities.

Applicants are required to present a Settlement Plan, explaining their plan for settling in and economically contributing to Manitoba. Manitoba will make the necessary resources available to help nominees achieve their objectives.

Manitoba’s PNP for business stream encourages financially capable business people to immigrate to Manitoba with the intention of founding or buying a business, or even becoming partners in an established business. The PNP for business fast tracks the immigration process by granting business immigrants a Nomination Certificate, allowing the Government of Canada to speedily process their immigration application. The Province of Manitoba is dedicated to helping business immigrants establish their businesses or farms in Manitoba.

Manitoba currently accepts about 15,000 immigrants a year. In a recent evaluation of the MPNP, statistics showed that 85% of nominees were employed three months after settling in Manitoba, 76% owned their own homes within five years, and 95% of families had permanently settled in Manitoba. The Government of Manitoba predicts a shortage of more than 20,000 skilled workers by the year 2020. The MPNP program offers skilled workers, tradespeople, and professionals the opportunity to immigrate to a province with a driven, dynamic economy, and join Canadians in building a prosperous future in one of Canada’s most thriving and promising provinces.
