The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program

As of January 27, 2016, Alberta is accepting new applications under all of the AINP classes and categories. The AINP is Alberta’s economic immigration program and offers opportunities for both skilled and semi-skilled workers to immigrate to Alberta.

 

The following AINP streams are now accepting applications:

The Strategic Recruitment Stream

You may apply without an employer under any one of three categories:

  1. Compulsory and Optional Trades Category: If you are a temporary foreign worker who is living and working in Alberta in an optional or compulsory trade, and hold a valid Alberta Trade Certificate issued or acknowledged by Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT), then you may qualify to apply for Permanent Residence under this category.   1. Engineering Occupations Category: If you are a temporary foreign worker who has Alberta work experience in an eligible engineering profession, then you may qualify to apply for Permanent Residence under this category. For additional information please ( ) our free online assessment.
  1. Post Graduate Worker Category: If you have graduated from a recognized post- secondary school in Alberta, have a Post-Graduation Work Permit, and are presently working in an eligible occupation in Alberta, then you may qualify to apply for Permanent Residence under this category. The Employer-Driven Stream

This stream allows your employer to apply with you under three possible categories:

  1. Skilled Worker Category: If an Alberta employer in an eligible skilled occupation offers you a permanent, full-time job then you may qualify to apply for Permanent Residence under this category. For more information please see our free online assessment tool.
  1. International Graduate Category: If you have recently graduated from a recognized post-secondary Canadian school, have a Post-Graduation Work Permit and an offer of a permanent full-time job by an Alberta employer in an eligible occupation, then you may qualify to apply for Permanent Residence under this category.   1. Semi-Skilled Worker Category: If you are a temporary foreign worker and have been offered a permanent full-time job by an Alberta employer in an eligible semi-skilled occupation, then you may qualify to apply for Permanent Residence under this category. The Self-Employed Farmer Stream

To be nominated for this immigration stream, you must have had experience in farm management and the capital to buy a farm in Alberta. For additional information, see: Self-Employed Farmer Stream

 

Who Is Not Eligible to Apply for the AINP?

  • Clergy, Elementary and Secondary School Teachers, Professional Athletes and Dental Laboratory Bench Workers
  • Refugee claimants or people who are involved with a federal appeal or removal process.
  • Live-in caregivers who presently reside in Canada
  • Temporary foreign workers who do not work and live in Alberta
  • International students who currently study in Canada and are participating in co-op work placements or internships required by their programs of study. Each AINP stream may include additional restrictions on eligibility.
